No more business visas From May 1, 2003 it is no longer possible to apply for business visas. Instead there is the possibility for people holding certain occupations (such as coach, teacher, member of the board, scientist, consultant, au pair, etc) to work in Estonia without a work permit for a short period of time (up to 6 months per year), in which case you have legal basis to stay in Estonia (valid visa or visa free days). Residence Permit for business A residence permit for undertaking business in Estonia may be issued to a foreigner who owns shares in a company or acts as a sole proprietor if the company or the sole proprietor is registered in the Estonian Commercial Register and if the business is good for the national interest of developing the Estonian economy and the settlement of the alien is important for the business. The fields and, if necessary, the territory of activities of the business in question, shall be determined in the residence permit.
