| YPC Workshop on Personal Efficiency – 16.10.2008 |

On October 16th more than 20 AmCham young professionals gathered in Inscape Baltic conference room for the third session of YPC interactive workshops series. YPC chairman Thomas Baumer made opening remarks and gave presentation on his view of Personal Efficiency aspects. Our special guest speaker this time was Mati Sööt, Member of the Board and owner of Inscape Baltic, who gave a wonderful speech on Personal Efficiency topic. It was a great mini-seminar with lots of visual and theoretical examples of how important personal efficiency is for young professionals. Our speaker presentation made a very valuable contribution to the event’s content and initiated very productive discussions. All participants were greatly satisfied with the opportunity to learn more on the topic and found it very interesting and useful for their work.

 On September 18th we were honored to have the President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves speak at the AmCham Luncheon event. This spectacular event gathered over 100 members and partners of AmCham Estonia, Swedish, British and Danish Chambers of Commerce in Estonia. In his speech President Ilves highlighted such topics as foreign and security policies, current economic situation in Estonia and pointed out the challenges that business people will face in the future. The Q&A section brought out various questions on inequalities in the society, international military policy and other topics.

 On September 9th AmCham loyal long-term member Shipco Transport kindly hosted first AmCham fall event, September Business After Hours.
It was a great Tuesday evening with business talks, delicious snacks and drinks. AmCham members had Shipco Trasnport brand new office tour, a small pearl in the Kopli area, got introduced to Shipco friendly staff and of course enjoyed fellowship of AmCham members in relaxed evening atmosphere.

| Cyber Security Forum event review - 04.09.2008 |

  On September 4th American Chamber of Commerce Estonia in cooperation with CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association held Cyber Security Forum event in Radisson SAS Hotel. It was the first cyber security event to address both the technical and skills issues and highlighting the importance of their synergy. The panel of speakers included such high caliber names as Mr Jaak Aaviksoo, Minister of Defense, Mr. Maart Laar, Member of Estonian Parliament, Mr Costas Andropoulos, Head of Unit at DG Enterprise and Industry, and experts of the Ministries of Defense and High Education, CERT Estonia, the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence and others. This interactive event brought together over 90 leading policymakers, entrepreneurs and experts and enabled an exchange of views and experiences to develop practical strategies for an improved policy environment for cyber security protection in Europe. Leading business news newspaper “Äripäev” covered forum in press. After the forum panel speakers kindly gave interview to Kalev Meedia. Thank you to all participants for productive discussions. | Annual USA Independence Day Celebration & Picnic review – 06.07.2008 |
 
On July 6th AmChamEstonia held one of year key events – Annual USA Independence Day Celebration and Picnic. This year celebration took place at magnificent Maardu Manor House. More than 100 AmCham members gathered with their families on Sunday afternoon in Maardu Manor House Park to enjoy American style picnic with traditional July 4th meal and entertainment. Event program included great live musical performance by vocal duet “Arabica” and Jazz trio. Children enjoyed games and fun contests on special playground provided by Premier Restaurants Eesti. On June 17th AmChamEstonia organized a very productive and successful Speaker Lunch with special guest speaker, Minister of Social Affair Ms. Maret Maripuu. Ms. Maripuu gave an exclusive presentation to AmCham members about new Employment Law Draft. The Minister touched base with the most essential new law aspects that will influence the labor market and impact the business environment. All AmCham members were very active and had a lot of practical questions and remarks. Ms. Maripuu kindly answered all of them and gave very nice overview. On June 10th AmChamEstonia launched a new Discover America Committee. New Committee initiative group consists of following members: Lufthansa, Kaleva Travel, Finnair, Estravel, Radisson SAS, Wris Tours, Hertz car rental. The main goal of the Committee is to raise awareness of Estonian tourists about America and let them discover this great country as main tourist destination. On June 4th AmChamEstonia in co-operation with Microsoft Estonia held a very successful Entrepreneurship conference for students that took place in Tallinn IT College. This event gathered more than 60 students who were interested in establishing their own enterprise and getting practical advice on successful business development and entrepreneur key qualities development. Event was moderated by Microsoft CEO Rain Laane. U.S. Ambassador Phillips also participated in this event and shared his entrepreneur experience with Estonian students.  On April 14th On April 14th AmCham IPR Committee in co-operation with U.S. Embassy, BSA, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Estonian Organization for Copyright Protection and Microsoft Estonia hosted a very successful event on IPR topic. It was this year highlight event for IPR Committee that gathered more than 90 Estonian teachers at a training seminar for local educators entitled “Know Your Rights”.
