AmCham Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Radisson Blu Sky Hotel With Over 150 Guests
Over the past 10 years, Thanksgiving Celebration hosted by Amcham Estonia for its members and partners has become a big tradition in Estonia! On Friday 27 November, over 150 AmCham members and their families gathered in the center of Tallinn to celebrate Thanksgiving, one of the biggest holidays in the United States.
The event hosts, Daria Sivovol and Katre Paulman, opened the event by welcoming guests and their families to the annual, traditional meal. After a friendly greeting from the AmCham President Andrus Alber, Nicole Johnson, Economic Officer of the U.S. Embassy Tallinn, read the Thanksgiving Proclamation from President Obama to guests. The event program also featured a special Thanksgiving Grace, courtesy of Reverend Gustav Piir.
Thanksgiving is known for its plentiful menu and our event participants got to enjoy a traditional American Thanksgiving feast including roasted turkey, maple mashed sweet potatoes, almond and garlic green bean casserole, scalloped potatoes, and other holiday treats prepared by the head chef of the hotel, Irena Dmitrieva.
Children were also well entertained with a special program, Happy Meals and face-painting by McDonald’s, as well as various art projects and competitions.
Thanksgiving is also about helping those in need, giving and charity. So later in the evening, the founder and manager of the My Dream Day Foundation (Minu Unistuste Päev) Marianne Bruhn, delivered a special Thank You message to all AmCham members who help contribute to the AmCham Charity Fund. She explained how the funds have been used throughout the year to help so many ill children and make their dreams come true!
Every year at the Thanksgiving dinner, AmCham holds its Annual Charity Prize Raffle to raise money for the AmCham charity fund to help those in need. We are thrilled to announce that this year we have raised 1,335 Euros from the raffle!
The dinner concluded with a plentiful dessert buffet that included such Thanksgiving specials as pecan and pumpkin pie, rum and prune ice cream, and waffles with maple syrup and whipped cream.
On top of the beautiful and memorable evening, family portraits, raffle prizes and delicious meal, all event participants walked out with a box of ice-cream – a special Thanksgiving gift sponsored by Balbiino ice-cream factory.
It was definitely another amazing Thanksgiving Celebration to remember!!!! If you have participated this year, we look forward to seeing you again next year! If you have not, make sure that you mark your calendar for the November 25, 2016 in order not to miss it!
We would like to thank the Radisson Blu Sky Hotel for helping us host such a successful event. A huge thank you to our event partners, Coca Cola Baltics,Balbiino, and McDonalds, for sponsoring this event, as well as all the raffle contributors who donated prizes! We appreciate your loyal support!
