How to “leap” into the U.S. market

On Wednesday, March 25th, AmCham members, partners, and Estonian start-up companies attended an interactive and informative discussion at the “Launchpad USA, Making the Leap,” event at Technopol.

Launchpad USA  is an AmCham service package that supports the sustained business success of member companies breaking into or scaling up their business in the U.S. market.  On the Launchpad, companies receive realistic, practical, and tailored support to help create a winning business formula.  This program is for Amcham’s companies regardless of industry, size or goals. What matters is the desire to expand business beyond the Nordic borders.

The event was opened with a short welcome from Daria Sivovol, AmCham Estonia Executive Director, giving a brief overview of AmCham Estonia and how it is the leading foreign business hub in Estonia. Brett Makens, of the U.S. Tallinn, then delivered a speech on how the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn supports and facilitates relationships between Estonian startups/companies and the U.S. market.  Following that, Mike Klyszeiko, the Director of Launchpad USA Nordics, discussed AmCham Finland’s successful results thus far with the program, as well as U.S. investors’ interest in Estonian companies.

Participants then listened to two testimonies from Transferwise and Erpy on their “leap” into the U.S. market, what they have learned throughout the process, and challenges they have faced along the way. The last speaker was Andrus Viirg via Skype call, from Enterprise Estonia Silicon Valley, who offered his thoughts and ideas for other Estonian companies interested in the U.S. market and how Enterprise Estonia is doing in Silicon Valley.

Launchpad USA is here to help build AmCham Estonia member’s businesses.  Some of the benefits companies can utilize include:

            •              In-House expertise

            •              Strategic Networking

            •              Professional Development Training

            •              Access to business critical information

We appreciate the help and support of Mike Klyszeiko and Mike Richards from AmCham Finland, for extending Launchpad USA to AmCham Estonia and contributing to our successful event!

We sincerely thank all our event participants for their active participation in the discussion, our guest speakers for their thoughts and input, our event supporters –EAS and the U.S. Embassy Tallinn for their contribution to the event and our event host -  Technopol for their cooperation and assistance!
