The New Gauge Initiative is a US-based non-profit business association focusing on the reconstruction and European-integration of Ukraine’s rail infrastructure.
New Gauge is now finalizing its status as a 501(c)3 and 501(c)6, based in DC. We are strategic partners with the Association of Railway Carriers of Ukraine (UAP) in Kyiv, though both organizations are entirely separate.
The UAP association was formed in Kyiv in 2021, before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in order to reform, integrate, and modernize the country’s railway infrastructure.
New Gauge is working with UAP to promote reform and international private-sector investment in Ukraine’s rail infrastructure. Together, international and Ukrainian businesses can build a cleaner, more sustainable, and more competitive railway system – and one fully integrated with the EU. Ukraine is a crucial link between the Baltic, Black, and Adriatic seas, therefore ensuring European security and the steady supply of food to the Global South.
Foreign direct investment is the key to Ukraine’s economic revitalization. New Gauge is working to ensure that US businesses take a leading role with their Ukrainian and international partners.
