Today, January 18th, AmCham members in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector have met at the Cobalt Law Office (Kawe Plaza) to identify the issues in their industry and set up the structure for a new committee that will function under the AmCham umbrella.
The Aim of the Healthcare Committee of AmCham Estonia will be to provide Estonian policy makers, institutions and other relevant stakeholders with the perspective of US companies that operate in Estonia. Health is an important driver for wealth and economic growth. The Committee therefore would support the EU health agenda towards affordable, sustainable and innovative health systems. Composed of the various healthcare industries (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, lab equipment and academia), it would to be a reliable policy partner to the Estonian institutions and to help ensure that new healthcare-related legislations and policies add value to, and benefit, the entire healthcare ecosystem.
Some of the issues that the committee plans to look into are:
- Affordable, sustainable and innovative healthcare systems in the Estonia
- Medical devices & diagnostics
- Public procurement and transparency
- The diagnostics of healthy workforce in Estonia
The committee will soon convene again to elect the chair and review the issues that can be tackled in the nearest future.
