Across the Atlantic: Insights on a Changing Transatlantic Relationship

On June 4, AmCham Estonia, in partnership with Miltton New Nordics, welcomed members and guests to Across the Atlantic, an engaging afternoon dedicated to examining the current realities, challenges, and opportunities shaping the transatlantic relationship.

The event opened with virtual keynote addresses from Washington, DC, where Kristiina Helenius, CEO of Miltton USA, and Marko Mihkelson, Member of the Estonian Parliament and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, provided valuable perspectives on the evolving geopolitical and strategic landscape. Their presentations explored the state of US-European relations, shifting security dynamics, and the implications of recent global developments for businesses, policymakers, and international cooperation.

Building on these insights, a moderated panel discussion brought together leading Estonian voices to reflect on the transatlantic partnership from a local perspective. The panel featured Meelis Kitsing, Rector of Estonian Business School; Eerik-Niiles Kross, Member of the Estonian Parliament and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee; and Indrek Laul, President of AmCham Estonia and CEO of Estonia Piano Factory. The discussion was masterfully moderated by Sandra Kamilova of Miltton New Nordics, whose thoughtful questions and skillful facilitation encouraged a dynamic and insightful exchange among the panelists.

The discussion highlighted the importance of maintaining strong transatlantic ties, fostering economic cooperation, and strengthening democratic resilience in an increasingly complex international environment. Participants benefited from a lively exchange of views, with speakers addressing both the opportunities and uncertainties facing Europe and the United States in the years ahead. The conversation underscored the continued relevance of transatlantic collaboration in promoting security, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

The event concluded with networking, refreshments, and informal discussions, allowing attendees to continue the dialogue and exchange perspectives with fellow members and guests.

AmCham Estonia extends its sincere thanks to Miltton New Nordics, the speakers, moderator, and all participants for contributing to a timely and thought-provoking discussion. We look forward to continuing these important conversations in future events.
