Energiasalv – store energy like never before, providing affordable energy and enhancing energy security with no harm to the environment!
Energiasalv is the first Zero Terrain based 500MW pumped hydro project that will be located in Paldiski, Estonia. The decarbonization of the energy sector has 3 global challenges: affordability, environmental sustainability of solutions, and security of supply. With Zero Terrain, an unique energy storage solution, we are ready to face these challenges. The conventional pumped-hydro has been considered the most competitive storage solution with robust and mature technology. It has high conversion efficiency and long useful life. We decided to take it one step further.
Zero Terrain is an improved pumped-hydro solution, which has several advantages:
- First of all, while conventional pumped-hydro operates in the mountains, Zero Terrain makes storing energy possible also in flat areas – yes, we build the energy storage underground.
- Secondly, its’ multiple revenue streams improve the feasibility of the storage. Zero Terrain solution gives us the opportunity to build synergy by sector coupling, developing several businesses at the same infrastructure, be it food production, extraction of mineral resources or building shelters.
Zero Terrain’s big advantage in terms of security of supply compared to other storage systems is its modular design, which allows the storage capacity to be increased at lower costs than any available alternative. Zero Terrain’s underground storage solution has a lower environmental footprint than other storage technologies and uses less critical minerals.
Effects on land use, fish stocks and water regime, which are known negative environmental impacts of conventional pumped-hydro, are minimized with our solution.
Zero Terrain’s 500MW 6 GWh demo project in Paldiski, Estonia is a construction-ready project, revenues schemes’ hedging being negotiated with the Government of Estonia. We have begun the preparation of other projects implementing the Zero Terrain concept in different parts of the world, and we are looking for interested partners and investors to join us in this development consortium.
