VABAMU has been a private foundation for over 20 years, with the mission of preserving and protecting freedom and a free society. Vabamu carries out this mission through exhibitions, storytelling, education programs, and international outreach.
Under the name Vabamu we operate the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Vabamu, the educational center NOVA, and the international relations unit Global Conversations. Through the latter, we build bridges between Estonian and international communities. We organize visits, design programs for visiting Estonia, help establish valuable contacts, arrange student and researcher exchanges, host impactful talks, and support cooperation in the technology and business sectors.
We have a strong partnership with Stanford University. We are founding partners of the deeptech start-up mentoring program Creative Distraction Lab, as well as the owners and organizers of the Estonia’s Friends International Meeting brand, initiated by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and entrepreneur Sten Tamkivi.
