AmCham WIL: Women in Healthcare

November 5, 2021 | 12:00 ‒ 13:00

On November 5, AmCham Estonia held its Women In Leadership event that this time was focused on women in the healthcare industry. The event was originally planned as an in-person luncheon, but due to the COVID-19 situation, we have decided to hold it online to keep all our speakers and members safe.

The event began with the opening by Daria Sivovol, Amcham CEO, and was followed by the event moderator Ms. Elo Tamm from COBALT who went over the event agenda and introduction of the speakers.  After her speech, we had a special video greeting from Ms. Heidi Alasepp, Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs.

The first speaker of the event was Ms. Terje Peetso, a member of the board in PERH, who talked about her career, passion, and how she got into the healthcare industry. She said that she was basically born and lived the first 7 years of her life  in the hospital which has set the stage for her further career path choices and up until today she is really passionate about her work. She also gave good advice on how to be a leader and keep up your motivation during the hard times.

Our second speaker of the event was Ms. Katrina Laks, CEO of Migrevention, who spoke about their company’s mission and purpose. She also talked about how she got into the CEO position of Migrevention being a scientist and how things work in the start-up community. She shared some really good tips on how to plan your work and daily tasks as the CEO and why it’s really important to have the same goal with your team.

The official part continued with the Q&A session moderated by Elo Tamm where our members had a chance to address their questions.

Elo summed up the discussion with the following key words:

  • be a teacher
  • be curious
  • be ready to take risks
  • see a bigger picture
  • have a sense of humor
  • read a books
  • do a research
  • built the trust

We want to thank the event moderator, Ms. Elo Tamm, all the event speakers who took their time, and of course all the participants!!!
