On Friday, September 4, AmCham Estonia hosted its 21st Annual Meeting with the Prime Minister of Estonia, welcoming Prime Minister Kristen Michal for an engaging keynote address and discussion with Estonia’s international business community.
Held at the Radisson Collection Hotel, the annual luncheon brought together AmCham members and partners, as well as members of the British, Finnish, and German Chambers of Commerce. The event once again demonstrated the value of bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and international partners for an open exchange on the issues shaping Estonia’s future.
The meeting began with a special welcome to AmCham Estonia’s newest members, followed by recognition of our Premium Partners — nine companies whose exceptional support and contribution help make AmCham’s work and activities possible throughout the year.
Prime Minister Michal then delivered his keynote address, touching on several topics of particular importance to the business community. He reaffirmed Estonia’s continued support for Ukraine, discussed the resilience of the Estonian economy and its continued growth despite the global slowdown, and spoke about the government’s efforts to make the state more efficient without increasing the tax burden.
One of the most forward-looking themes of the discussion was Estonia’s ambition to become a leader in the adoption of artificial intelligence. The Prime Minister highlighted the Eesti.ai initiative and its ambitious goal of bringing 100,000 people through free AI workshops over the next 18 months. Open to everyone, the initiative reflects Estonia’s determination to ensure that the opportunities created by AI reach people, businesses, and organizations across society.
Following his remarks, Prime Minister Michal opened the floor to questions. The lively Q&A covered a wide range of issues and gave participants an opportunity to engage directly with the Prime Minister. The level of interest was evident: there were so many questions from the audience that we ultimately ran out of time.
The program concluded with a delicious networking lunch in the elegant surroundings of the Radisson Collection Hotel. It provided a relaxed atmosphere for members and guests to continue conversations, make new connections, and bring the working week to a memorable close.
