AmCham Estonia Shares its Priorities with the New Government
This morning, the American Chamber of Commerce in Estonia (AmCham Estonia) has sent an open letter to the new Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, and members of the Estonian government, welcoming the new coalition’s efforts to develop an open economy.
In the letter, the board of AmCham Estonia alongside the chamber committee heads pointed out the areas that require special attention, and which are very important to our members when doing business in Estonia.
“Our proposals include those policy areas that are a prerequisite for enabling foreign investment and international business in Estonia – accessible and high-quality healthcare, digital infrastructure, well-thought-out research and development, and innovation policy, talent engagement, transatlantic economic and security cooperation, the digital services tax that is currently under discussion, which also affects the Estonian technology sector, data protection and data transfer between Estonia and the USA, double taxation problems. As there are many international companies among our members, who are in the travel and tourism business in Estonia, we also highlighted these sector-specific challenges”,- commented the Members of AmCham Board of Directors, who are optimistic about the new government’s coalition agreement.
“First of all, we would like to wish good luck to the new government. You don’t have to feel alone in this job. In the fight against the COVID19 pandemic, companies have an important role to play both in Estonia and around the world, so we are happy to partner with the government on these and many other issues”, added Indrek Laul, AmCham Estonia President.
