On June 11, we hosted the Women in Leadership Luncheon, a dynamic gathering focused on innovation, purpose, and leadership. The event was moderated by Nele Normak, Director of Public Affairs, Communication, Sustainability Poland, Baltics, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia at Coca-Cola with a distinguished panel featuring Piret Mürk-Dubout, Member of the Management Board at Tallink Grupp and CEO of Tallink Silja AB; Ade Merilai, Country Manager Baltics and Member of the CE Europe Regional Management Team at Nestlé; and Kadri Tammai, Regional Director at NATO DIANA.
One of the themes of the panel discussion was the current state of innovation in Estonia’s defense sector. The speakers underscored Estonia’s strategic emphasis on development and connectivity, reflecting the country’s need to strengthen its defense capabilities in light of regional security dynamics.
The panel also highlighted the critical role of purpose-driven leadership and cross-sector collaboration in fostering innovation. Innovation was framed not just as a strategic necessity but also as a means to enhance operational outcomes and organizational culture.
A compelling part of the conversation centered on how leaders manage highly technical teams, especially in cutting-edge fields like quantum technology. Trust, empowerment, clear vision, self-reflection, and personal balance were identified as essential to effective leadership. Panelists also shared insights into the importance of family support and mentorship, as well as the role men can play in supporting women in leadership. A particularly thoughtful segment addressed how women leaders navigate self-criticism and the importance of a supportive leadership environment for all.
The event also featured the Pamela Luise Dream Lifter Award, given in partnership with EO59, Carl Pucci (CEO and son of Pamela), and Swissôtel Tallinn. Now in its second year, the award honors the legacy of Pamela Luise—a vibrant spirit known for inspiring and uplifting those around her.
This year’s recipient, Kaie Kensap, exemplifies Pamela’s legacy through decades of selfless service. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Kaie has escorted refugees from the Ukraine-Poland border and continues to support the Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization, Home Daughters, Young Eagles and Estonian Defence League. Her work at Kuusiku Retirement Home and recent election as chairman of the Rapla Lutheran Church board further speak to her extraordinary commitment.
We warmly thank all participants, panelists, and sponsors—including Bombay Club, Eurobio Lab, Promo Cash & Carry, Coca-Cola, Anne & Stiil Magazine and Swissôtel Tallinn—for making this event a success. We look forward to receiving more nominations next year to continue honoring remarkable women and keeping Pamela Luise’s uplifting spirit alive.
