Tallinn, December 2, 2024 – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Digital Society Committee held a highly engaging meeting today with Minister Pakosta to introduce the committee’s objectives and discuss key topics shaping Estonia’s digital future. The discussion provided an opportunity to align shared priorities and gain insight into the Estonian Government’s vision and upcoming plans.
The AmCham Digital Society Committee outlined critical topics, highlighting Estonia’s role as a digital front-runner and its commitment to innovation and global collaboration. The agenda included:
- Estonia as a Digital Front-Runner: Reinforcing Estonia’s position as a global leader in digital governance and technology.
- EU’s Regulatory Framework: Addressing the a harmonized implementation of the EU AI Act
- Regional Alliances: Discussing Estonia’s strategic approach to coalitions like D9+ and Nordic-Baltic collaborations, and reinforcing the importance to work with like-minded countries
- Cybersecurity and National Defense: Emphasizing the importance of bolstering cybersecurity with technologies such as AI in the face of evolving global threats.
- Strong Transatlantic Relations: Exploring ways to deepen ties with the United States and other international partners to drive innovation and digital progress.
Minister Pakosta provided valuable insights into Estonia’s work at the European level, particularly in advancing regulatory simplification and fostering clarity in digital governance. She highlighted Estonia’s leadership role in shaping policies that balance innovation with regulatory oversight and emphasized the pivotal role of cloud technology in strengthening Estonia’s resilience and security infrastructure.
